The Secretary of State emphasized the importance of communication channels and said to be “effective and permanent” to avoid a crisis.

Minister of Mining, Aurora Williams, called on Tuesday the mining companies to have a close earliest communities, establishing effective channels of communication and stable.

“We promote businesses to interact with stakeholders at a much earlier stage of project as was done years ago,” Williams said.

“Building relationships with stakeholders at an early stage provides a good opportunity to influence the perceptions of the community and create, from the beginning, a positive tone with stakeholders,” she added.

These statements were made in the context of the presentation of the National Survey of Perceptions Towards Mining, conducted by CSIRO.

In addition, the head of Mining emphasized that communication channels must be “effective and permanent” to avoid a crisis.-

“It’s much more likely that communities doubt companies who do not know and with those who have not had regular contact,” she said.

In this context, she proposed businesses “keep a link through specialized areas and systematically report their engagements with stakeholders.”

“The government is committed to meet the challenge of greater inclusion, participation, building trust, respect and partnerships that promote the country’s development with equity and social peace,” she concluded.
