Mining Ministry is working on final details for future Lithium Commission

One of the presidential commitments for the first 100 days in office, and to fulfill is that the Mining Ministry has been working from the same installation of the Executive. And that task would be almost ready.

In two weeks, after May 21st, the government will present the conformation of the Lithium Commission, initiative that responds to the questions that had the notice of this action during the administration of Sebastián Piñera, finally invalidated process and ended with the departure Sub-Secretary of the portfolio, Paul Wagner, who had led it.

The Board, say from the Government, is nearly set, and it will be led by Minister Dawn Williams and three other officials from the ministry and the secretary of the branch, Ignacio Moreno.

The other members shall have expertise in mining and lithium issues, many of them international ones, who has been called to this task. All names longer be aware of La Moneda.

The idea is to make a quick set up of the Board, which will seek to develop a proposal on the government policy of exploration and exploitation of lithium, which surely will affect the rating of “strategic” it has today. Although the deadlines for submission of this proposal are not yet defined, the ministry is working on the basis that this should be brought before year-end in order to get approval and implementation during the administration of President Bachelet.
