Luksic Group enters the club of major world producers of mining

The group behind Antofagasta Minerals, came to join the International Club Council on Mining and Metals (ICMM).

It began to be candidates in October 2013, but finally this week Antofagasta Minerals, from the Luksic group, became part of the exclusive International Club Council on Mining and Metals (ICMM), which groups the world’s largest producers, including Anglo American, BHP Billiton , Vale, Rio Tinto or Teck and that was just among Chilean Codelco as a membership.

“We are very proud and pleased to be part of the ICMM and adding a new business to this Chilean international board”, said Diego Hernandez, CEO of Antofagasta (pictured), who was also the architect of the incorporation of Codelco in this club when steered the destiny of the state company. “We are confident that we have taken a further step to consolidate Antofagasta as a world-class company, contributing to better development of mining in terms of sustainability”, he added. At this meeting, in the U.S., it also incorporated the mineraGlencore, which also has operations in Chile.
