Government will introduce changes to mine closure law

The Undersecretary of Mining, Ignacio Moreno, announced that the Government will present within this month an adaptation of the law of mine closure, an initiative that would directly helps midsize companies in the sector.

Moreno said in his statements that this is a joint effort between the Ministry of Mining and Sernageomin whose modifications would be presented in two more weeks for the adjustment is approved before it enters into force the closure law.

The suitability engages primarily as undersecretary argued that the Medium Mining companies can add to reserves removable economic resources in order to provide the guarantees required by law, equivalent to the order of 20% of the total plan closing.

Regarding the situation in Enami, after the resignation of Robert de Groote as executive vice president and now is being subrogated by the prosecutor of the institution, Patricio Cartagena, added to this the economic issues, the Undersecretary Moreno said his problem is clearly management, as they have held this position many people in recent years.
