Collahuasi Mining Company increase in 50% its production

In the first ten months of the year’s total copper production totaled 4.74 million metric tons, up 6.8%

Chilean copper production rose 6.8% in the first ten months of the year compared to the same period in 2012, totaling 4.74 million metric tons (MT), according to Cochilco’. In such behavior were very relevant the positive performances of Minera Escondida, Collahuasi and Anglo American Sur.

Regarding Escondida controlled by BHP Billiton (57.5%), Rio Tinto (30%) and Jeco Corp (12.5%) – in January-October production expanded by 13.2%, totaling 1,001,700 TM. With these figures, the largest copper site in the world, achieved a participation within the local sector of about 21.1% compared to 19.9% obtained in 2012.

Codelco which is the largest producer worldwide-reduced its production by 0.7%, totaling 1,325,600 MT, accounting for 28% of total production in our country. This was mainly due to the drop of 3.5% that scored Chuquicamata Radomiro Tomic. In turn, El Salvador production was contracted by 18.9% and 4.4% Andina division. By contrast, the El Teniente Division achieved partly offset what happened in the other sites in the state company, as increased production by 9.7%, contributing to the 32,700 additional matrix TM.

On the rise

In the first ten months of the year also continued by highlighting the behavior of Anglo American Sur-division to which Codelco agree to 24.5% of the property, after reaching an agreement with Anglo-since increased its production by 11.3% , reaching 383 900 TM, achieving a market share in the local market of 8.1%. By contrast, Anglo American Norte’s production fell 2.4%, with TM 93,300.
