Changes in senior management of the Codelco operating divisions

After days of waiting, the Corporation announced on Tuesday changes that will take the company to the executive level.

Through an essential fact, Codelco’s board led by Oscar Landerretche, endorsed the Nelson Pizzarro’s proposal in relation to new professionals who will occupy the general management of the operating divisions of the company.

Among the changes defined by the Codelco’s Executive President, is the creation of the Management of Mineral Resources and Development Vice Presidency, which replaces the current Vice Presidency of Business Development.

This new position will be assumed by Joseph Pesce Rosenthal, an engineer with over 30 years of expertise in various positions in Codelco’s operations area and in Los Pelambres Mining Company, and who has also served as a consultant.

For his part, Octavio Araneda was confirmed as vice president of Centre-South Operations, who also stays on as interim vice president of North Operations.

Meanwhile, the Chuquicamata Division general management rests with Sergio Parada, professional who will take office on November 1st. In addition, the Radomiro Tomic Division will be led by Mauricio Barraza, who up to date served as mines manager of El Teniente division.

The same responsibility in the Ministro Hales Division will correspond to Carlos Caballero, while Juan Carlos Avendaño, current general manager of the Chuquicamata Division, will assume the same position at the Salvador Division.

The Northern District executive positions which are still under review “will be resolved shortly,” said Codelco in a statement. The same applies to the responsibilities in the areas of project and support to the mining management.

The rest of the operating divisions is unchanged, confirming Ricardo Palma in the Andina Division, José Álvaro Sanhueza in Ventanas and Alvaro Aliaga at El Teniente.

It should be noted, that in the same essential fact was reported that the board of the copper company asked the legal counsel Cristián Quinzio, to postpone the date of his voluntary resignation.
