Wagner stresses on compliance with OCDE standards in lithium call for bid
After finishing its last official tour throughout Asia-Pacific, Subsecretary of Mining replied criticisms of opponent congressmen that have accused CEOL contracts to be unlawful

An intense agenda had the Subsecretary of Mining, Pablo Wagner, during the last days holding more than 20 meetings in a week in order to promote CEOL contracts (Lithium Special Operation Contracts) after finishing the last international road show that took him to Sydney, Tokyo, and Seoul.

Deadline for those interested in acquiring bid basis is today at 5 pm. This is the scenario on which Wagner emphasized on lawfulness of process in reply to the recourse of nullity some opponent congressmen submitted to court while he was on official tour.

“Lawfulness has been completely observed. We are elaborating an special operation contract where the possibility of exploring-exploiting lithium for 20 years for 100,000 metallic tons is included and that is totally lawful pursuant to Article 19, No. 24 of our Constitution”, he stated.

Furthermore if one considers that “OCDE is interested in having public policies that promote generation of competition in the area and consequently policies like the ones we are making are aligned with OCDE requirements”.

As regards to the road show he said that “Results are positive. We had a plan to promote lithium in six countries – Canada, U.S.A., Australia, Japan, South Korea, and Chile – and we have had conversations with most interested parties”.

Regarding a second process after the Ministry has sold more than 60 bid basis, he stated that “what we are doing this year is calling for bids, any other thing in the future will be defined accordingly and at the proper time”.
