The initiative, which will link Chacaya and Crucero substations contemplates, an investment of U.S. $70,5 million and will serve to evacuate energy of the Mejillones Energy Infrastructure project

The Service Environmental Assessment (SEA) approved the project construction and operation of High Voltage Line (LAT) of E-CL, which will link Chacaya and Crucero (S/E) substations, located in the Northern Interconnected System (SING). Initiative contemplates an investment about US$70,5 million and it is expected to have a service life of 50 years.

The project involves the installation of 220 LAT kV double circuit and about 160 kilometers in length. It will consist of a total of 533 towers (400 suspension towers and 133 anchor and top towers).

Furthermore, the S / E Chacaya includes the construction of S / E GIS (gas insulated substation in) while in the S / E Crucero it is planned the expansion of the control house and the installation of two additional areas dedicated to this line, for which it will be necessary to physically expand the SE to the north.

This new line of high voltage will reinforce the SING, since it will interconnects the S / E Crucero, the most important of the system, with the S/E Chacaya, electric generation pole in Mejillones, making network stronger and increasing quality and safety levels.

The energy coming from Mejillones E-CL Energy Infrastructure Project, will be evacuated through a transmission line so that it is of high relevance and also with a view to future Interconnection SING-SIC.
