Rio Cuervo Plant receive SERNAGEOMIN’s accolade

A strong accolade from the National Service of Geology and Mining (Sernageomin) receive the Rio Cuervo Plant Hydroelectric Project in the Aysén region, after the agency noted that Energía Austral initiative owner, submit all studies of soil and volcanological criteria requested.

The SERNAGEOMIN’s pronouncement was made through a written request of the Coyhaique Court of Appeals, tribunal that an injunction filed by environmentalists against the second largest electricity initiative of Patagonia after HidroAysén.

Environmentalists, led by the FIMA Corporation argued that Energia Austral presented only one of the three soil studies requested by the authority, why seek to challenge the environmental approvals. Specifically, with respect to the detailed study of eruptions and updating of the Monitoring and Early Warning Seismic and Volcanic Events (PMAT) Plan, Poblete says that in July 2013 Energía Austral gave met this requirement.-
Regarding the report called “velocity model”, says the company gave a first version, which completed a second study that will begin 10 months before the start of project construction.

On the implementation of a monitoring plan of groundwater levels, Poblete indicates to be made before the start of reservoir filling.

Likewise, last week also the president of the Coyhaique Court of Appeals, accompanied by the PDI, did a flyover of the area where the project would be built. With this, they would consider that all of the proceedings before the court issues a ruling.-
