Minera Las Cenizas S.A. company submitted the “Mina Altamira Modification II” project for environmental evaluation last Monday. This project would increment the current copper sulfides mining from 30,000 to 40,000 tons per month. The project is located at Tal Tal, Antofagasta, and considers a US$10 million investment.

“The purpose of this project is making all necessary modifications to the reserves mining configuration and the existing surface infrastructure in order to secure the conditions to sustainably increase the copper sulfides mining from 30,000 to 40,000 tons per month”, the Environmental Impact Statement read.

Additionally it will enable the mining of copper oxides at a rate of 30,000 tons per month. Thus, Mina Altamira would obtain a global increment in the minerals extraction from 30,000 tons/month up to 70,000 tons/month.

Project execution is expected to start in May 13, 2013 with a 10-year estimated useful life.
