This is a set of silicon solar panels, defined as the most powerful and reliable available today in the market, and offering most power over the lifetime of its system.

On April 9th, GasAndes company launched the set of SunPower photovoltaic panels installed on its operation center. These are more efficient than exist today in the world and the complex will have a capacity of 25 KW.

We speak of a set of silicon solar panels, defined as the most powerful and reliable available today in the market, and offering the most power over the lifetime of its system. They integrate cell technology Maxeon of SunPower with solar cells with high efficiency and anti-reflective coating that increases the record efficiencies exceeding 21%.

Raul Montalva, GasAndes’s CEO, explained that this project represents “a concrete and efficient way to implement new NCRE alternatives, because this system will generate 60,000 kWh per year, which represents 20% of GasAndes consumption and savings in power costs that will amortize the project in less than 10 years, relying solely on market prices. Profitable, sustainable and competitive advantage comes with the company as a new gas management activity to improve the security of supply of natural gas to the metropolitan region. “

As for the Company plans, Montalva explained that in a second phase, GasAndes seek to be a leader and forerunner of a pilot net-metering project, expanding its facility and being able to generate 60% of its power needs through potential advantages delivering solar energy as a source of clean electricity, affordable and sustainable.

It can be noted that this demonstration photovoltaic system represents an small-scale demo version of the Oasis system that currently Sun Power builds in the Atacama Region, with its project “PV Salvador” (70MW) which is expected to be operational during the first quarter of 2015.

The SunPower’s Representative, Bernard Clément, in turn emphasized that the mission of the company is to “transform solar energy into conventional power, changing the way we think about the world in terms of energy.” As Clément detailed, photovoltaic power is a compelling proposition in Chile because of the large amount of solar radiation, particularly in the north. “Together with the high power prices, high energy demand and low construction costs, solar power can compete with traditional sources of electricity in Chile without recourse to state subsidies. Therefore, we are pleased to help Chile to diversify its energy supply, “he said.

The system that was installed by the Chilean company, Ecolife will be located at 11650 Avenida Chena, where the GasAndes Operations Center is located.
