Extend deadline to Codelco to respond to inquiries by Andina 244

SEA set a deadline to the addendum of July 31. Codelco explained that application seeks to respond appropriately

The Service Environmental Impact Assessment (SEA), extended to July 31, 2014 the deadline for the state company to answer about 2,200 queries on its Andina 244 project, after a request submitted on Monday by the state company.

This is the second extension that the SEA granted to Codelco after that in August this year the company made the same request against a deadline of September 11. It is also the last time the body can grant according to the law. In the application the legal representative of the copper company, Ricardo Palma, explained that the action seeks to adequately answer queries, against a deadline of 27 December.

The project includes an investment of more than $ 7,000 million and will allow Andina raise its annual 600 tons of fine copper production from 2021.

Sources said last week that Codelco could deliver responses to Requests before the Consolidated for Clarifications, Corrections and Additions (ICSARA) Report from March to April.-

Copper Price

The Codelco’s Finance and Administration Vice President, Ivan Arriagada, said “some volatility will persist” in the price of copper and a downward trend.

He explained that the retail price of copper has been watching since 2011, when it traded at around $ 4 a pound, from an average of U.S. $ 3.6 in 2012 and $ 3.3 per pound as far this year. Even so, he noted that “we are optimistic that it is a market that continues to grow.”

Foundry

Codelco also reported yesterday that resume-able with the help of the police-office and sale of copper concentrates in the Chuquicamata Division after roadblocks made by foundry workers of that division, claiming improvement in profits.
