GDF Suez subsidiary, is looking for joint ventures with companies in different fields.

A little over two years of his arrival in our country, Cofely Térmika, a subsidiary of European giant GDF Suez, a group dedicated to efficiency and energy sales, inaugurates its first chilled water plant of the country at the Plaza Egaña Mall.

This project is the kickoff of the plan in this area that the firm seeks to implement in Chile this year, it considers an estimated over U.S. $ 20 million investment. “This figure is not fanciful, is projected at what we are doing at the minute,” says the Cofely Termika’s Engineering Manager, Joel Toledo. This plan includes projects in three areas: industrial, with jobs for mining and cellulose for $ 12 million; health, with weatherization projects for hospitals and clinics, worth $ 2 million, and retail, with an investment of U.S. $ 6 million. “In the area of shopping centers we are in talks with the five most popular brands: Mall Plaza, Cencosud, and we are working deals with Parque Arauco and other regional chains,” said Toledo.

The chilled water plant opens today at Plaza Egaña Mall, allows control of temperature and air and optimizes the use of water and electricity, ensuring continuous service, he said.

Such plants are designed to cater to large buildings such as hospitals, shopping centers, mining camps, airports, hotels and large industries.

Energy savings depend on the type of project, but range from 30% to 50%, and in some cases, is superior. The advantage, Toledo explains, is that the investment is recovered within four to five years. “And become profitable use facilities that have a greater number of years”.

Project in Plaza Egaña Mall

Operational since December 2013, and was the first HVAC contract in the Chilean market, chilled water plant Plaza Egaña Mall at a cost of U.S. $ 2.8 million as part of the investment of U.S. $ 6 million raised Cofely materialize in the retail area in 2014.

“Companies need innovation committees, and in this field one has to be a little daring. Mall Plaza did, and enjoys the benefit of having a facility that does not have the rest in terms of consumption and Energy care and drinking water”, says Toledo.

In today’s event’s carbon footprint, services output from the plant is measured. “This way, we demonstrate that our industry cares about the environment with actual figures”, he says.
