Amsa decided to unify these two operations it has in the region of Antofagasta under the name of Minera Centinela. The new company will be led by André Sougarret, current Esperanza’s General Manager.

A new company bringing together two of its main operations in Chile decided to create Antofagasta Minerals (Amsa) to “meet the challenges of productivity of the mining group,” according to the statement gave by the company itself.

We are talking about Minera Centinela, which will integrate the current mining companies El Tesoro and Esperanza, who operate the copper sites of the same name located in the region of Antofagasta.

The integration process of these two operations of the group will start in July and will be led by the current General Manager of Minera Esperanza, André Sougarret, who will be joined by executives from different companies of the Antofagasta Minerals’s group.

Through Minera Centinela, Antofagasta Minerals Group seeks to capture the “peak” of the mining district of the same name, located in the Antofagasta Region, forming this new company that aims to achieve “a more competitive position in the industry”, said Amsa .

“The integration capture synergies of two operations that are geographically very close, allowing greater economies of scale,” said Executive Chairman of Antofagasta Minerals, Diego Hernandez.

“This is a very important milestone for the group, as Minera Centinela is one of the country’s largest mining companies and can better face the challenges that industry is experiencing today”, concluded Hernandez.
