Canadian company expects to start building the extension of the site that year, a project that could be completed by 2019.

In mid-2016 Teck could make a decision on the fate of Quebrada Blanca, said Greg Waller, Vice President of relations with investors and strategic analysis of the mining company. In conference with shareholders, he said they expected to see more cash flow strengthened to make a decision.

The executive said that this date would be ready to start building permits for the expansion of the site, which could conclude in late 2019.-

“Like I said, if that is done in 2016 will depend on the environment that is in terms of cash flow and, depending on the opportunities that may develop between now and that date,” he explained.

The executive acknowledged that the expansion of Quebrada Blanca will be “one of the most valuable operations for the company when it is built, and we hope to start doing it as soon as possible,” he especified.

In October last year the company froze all orders to start the Project.
