About $ 28 billion. That is the figure that estimates the Sernageomin National Director, Rodrigo Alvarez, it will need this distribution from 2015 to operate.

Although Sernageomin has substantially increased its annual budget (increased from $ 11 billion in 2010 to just over $ 23 billion today), “the growth of mining was not related to the Sernageomin’s Budget, so it takes more to best meet the needs of the service way”, he says.

“Today we projected (which will require up) at least 40%, to $ 28 billion”, says Alvarez, mainly because of the impact it will have on the operation of the Service Act Mine Closure.

But also, “we have a no small matter: we compete with market salaries and today it is very difficult to make the service attractive to workers who have significant expertise.” Alvarez said that from 18 auditors in 2010, the service became 69 today and expects to end this year with 80, which involves an additional expenditure which is financed by savings in other areas.

He also indicates that the service maintains a network of volcanological monitoring, which is one of the largest in the world and costs $ 4 billion a year.
